Halloween Memories
Some of my best childhood memories come from Halloween. It was something I waited for every year, but I guess that's not surprising. I mean, what kid doesn't love Halloween?
When I would go trick or treating, my parents would take me to Mount Joy and we would start at my aunt's house. We'd usually get there early, before trick or treating started. I'd get my bag ready and wait until the trick or treating fun began. Once it was time, my mom would take me out and I'd trick or treat in my aunt's neighborhood. I got tons of candy! I think I would get about 3 or 4 bags. It was awesome.
I can remember some of my costumes. One year I was Belle. My parents had bought me the costume from the Disney store. I dressed up as a black cat one year, then another year I was a pumpkin (that one was my mom's idea). I was an angel one year and I remember that year because it was my cousin who got dressed up and took me out trick or treating. I had a lot of fun that year. When my cousin lived here I didn't really spend much time with her, but the times I have spent with her, I remember them.
And one year I dressed up as Posh Spice. I remember one house I got candy at the guy asked me who I was and I told him. He said "Are you going to sing a song for me?" I laughed and said no. I love singing, but I've always been shy about singing in front of people.
And one year when I was a kid trick or treating, a guy was trying to give me one of his kittens. But my mom said no.
And when trick or treating was over, I would sit at my aunt's house and go through my candy. My favorite was the goodie bags. They had candy in them, but they also had other neat stuff like spider rings, stickers and other stuff.
In more recent years, I've still continued to dress up. One year I painted my face like Shaggy 2 Dope. The year after that, when I was 16, I painted my face like Anybody Killa. I even dyed my red hair and braided it. Last year I was a blue fairy. My hair was blue, I had blue wings and my clothing was blue. And a few years ago I dressed up as Ginger Spice. I dyed my hair red, except for my bangs, they were blonde. I wore a dress and some makeup that would have been similar to what Ginger might of wore.
I loved dressing up as Ginger Spice, but it got me some stares, guys looking at me and an old guy hit on me. I'd say the guy was at least in his 60's and he asked me who I was, I told him Ginger Spice and he said "Yeah, you sure are spicy."
Luckily, a few seconds after that my boyfriend returned from the bathroom and the old guy quickly walked away. I wouldn't say that is a favorite memory of mine, but now I can look back and laugh at it.
What are some of your Halloween memories?

fun memories!
I don't remember much about halloween when I was a kid. we were rather poor, so I dressed up as a hobo, with overhauls and charcoal on my face for a beard, and an old hat.
I've loved Halloween for as long as I can remember.
I remember my parents taking me trick or treating over the years and I remember taking my children.
I've also been to some wonderful Halloween parties. One year I was at a Halloween wedding.
I'm not a fan of halloween
I can remember a few years when it snowed on Halloween or was horribly cold and we'd still go out trick or treating with our costumes on underneath heavy winter coats and snow pants. One year I remember getting a foot of snow on Halloween and the only places I could go were my neighbors.
I'm even more excited for Halloween now. Posh Spice? hahaha!
When I have a little more time I will tell you mildly entertaining Halloween stories from my youth.... Buhuhawawahahhahahaha!
i never really celebrated halloween when i ws little cause my mom doesn't like the holiday. these days, though, no one really trik or treats near me. i think they are too afraid to
@C_L_O_G - I was at a Halloween wedding, too. several years later it got scary and they divorced.
We don't celebrate Halloween here in Malaysia, well not many of us anyway. But it's always fun and interesting to read about other people's Halloween stories and experiences. Have a fun and exciting Halloween, my dear friend.
Carving pumpkins and bobbing for apples with the neighbour kids is my favourite Halloween memory
@DraculVanHelsing - That's a nice memory. Thank you for the rec.
@RestlessButterfly - Thanks. I will
@okitapieds - I'm sorry. No one treat or tricks on my road either, but that's because I live in the country and the road is very busy and there are no sidewalks out here. It's pretty dangerous to even walk on the road I live on, to be honest. But the road right down from my house is safe and that's usually where the kids go trick or treating.
You could always dress up for Halloween. That's what I do. I'd love to go trick or treating again, but you know how it is, people think trick or treating should only be for kids.
@Aloysius_son - Ok lol I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the rec.
@godfatherofgreenbay - I don't think it's ever snowed here on Halloween. Not that I can remember anyway.
@jennylovve - Yep. I was Posh Spice.
@C_L_O_G - A Halloween wedding sounds fun.
@ofunlo - Well, at least you still dressed up. I've had to use my own clothing for costumes before, like last year for example, because I didn't have the money for a costume.
