  • Old Library Slips

    I saw this on another blogging site of someone's blog I follow. An old library slip. It is much different now. When checking out books from the library, they are scanned and a piece of paper is printed when the return dates of your items. I'm not sure when library switched to this from the old slips, but I'm sure they've been doing it this way for a number of years now.
    When I went to kindergarten, the school had its own library which I would borrow books from. This was in 1994, when I was 5. When I borrowed books from there, I would get a slip like that is shown above. Each book had its own slip, with a holder for the slip either on the front, or very last page in the book. I still see slip holders in some of the books I borrow, but they tend to be ones from the 90s and before. The new books don't have one. In some of the older books, I've actually found a few old slips. Some of the dates on the slips went back to the 1980s.
    Seeing the slip just kind of brought back memories for me of some of my first trips to the library.

  • The Walking Dead Returns

    The new episode of The Walking Dead comes on tonight. The show went on its mid-season break December 2 and I've been waiting for it to return with new episodes since then.  
    It's a good show and I'm excited new episodes will be starting tonight. I can't wait to see what happens!

  • Craft Stores

    I get a majority of my craft supplies from A.C. Moore, Michaels and Hobby Lobby. It is honestly a struggle most of the time getting the materials that I want. A.C. Moore and Michaels tend to not carry many materials for Native crafts and I don't know why. Hobby Lobby doesn't have everything, but they do have more than A.C. Moore or Michaels.

    What craft stores usually have are spools of leather, but just white, brown, black and tan. It's hard to get colors like red, blue, green, etc. And it seems the only place to carry a variety of hoop sizes is Hobby Lobby. 
    It can be frustrating going to the craft store and they don't have what you need. Recently I found an online store that I want to buy from. Here is the link: http://www.ecanyons.com/
    They have a lot of stuff and the prices are good, so is the shipping. I'm going to try and order some supplies from the site soon.

  • Favorite Video Game

    This week's question on @TheWeeklyQuestion is, what is your favorite video game?

    Well, I have many. I have lots that I love for many different reasons, but I will just share one today.

    Final Fantasy IX was the first Final Fantasy game I ever played. I bought the game brand new for $15 from amazon.com. I didn't know what to expect, since I never played any game in the series before. Once I received it in the mail, I started playing it that very day and I was hooked.
    I played it every day until I beat it. What makes this one of my favorite games is the story and the characters. I found myself being able to relate to the characters, especially Garnet, and becoming emotionally attached to them. And I thought the story was just great. To me, it was sort of like a book you could play. 
    This is the game that got me started on the Final Fantasy series and it still remains my favorite. I hope the game is never remade, as it is perfect just as it is.

  • Prayers Please

    I've been a little stressed the past few days. I'd rather not go into details about it, but it concerns my family. Money problems are part of it and my dad's health as well.

  • My Weekend

    It snowed here over the weekend. It snowed both Saturday and Sunday. Both days me, my mom and boyfriend had to go to get something to eat. We went out Saturday to Wendy's, which there is one in my town. Sunday we went over to Hershey to get KFC. I found out they got rid of the Popcorn Chicken and was really disappointed. They replaced them with Bites and instead of coming in sizes like the Popcorn Chicken, you have to get in pieces. Like six pieces, ten, etc. They cost more than the Popcorn Chicken did too. Before heading home, we had to stop at the grocery too. 

    Even though it snowed, it was still a nice weekend. Marc and I were playing Lego Harry Potters Years 1-4 for the Wii and beat it. We're going to start playing Aragorn's Quest soon. 
    Something weird happened over the weekend. It happened Sunday night, it was around 1am. Marc and I were sitting in my room. Suddenly, we heard a knock. It was at my door. And before I go any further, let me explain something. On our front porch, there are doors. We only use one of them, and that is the one that leads into the living room. One of the other doors on porch leads into my bedroom, but the door isn't used and hasn't been used for years. You can tell when you come up on our porch, which is the door to go to. Where my door is, which is at the end of the porch near the drive way and get to it, you have to go past the chairs, swing and table on the porch, plus some other things that are laying directly in front of the door. 
    So, it is 1am and someone knocks on my door. They wait a few seconds and knock again. After that, there is no more knocking, but I tell my mom what happened. We look out the windows, but see no one. About 10 minutes later, my mom yells for me and tells me that someone is on the back porch. 
    I got a flashlight and used it to look out the window, but saw no one. Then, me, my mom and boyfriend went outside to look around. Marc and I walked behind the house. We couldn't see much since there is no working light out back, but in the distance, I heard someone walking. I couldn't see them, but I heard them and I just left like we weren't alone back there. I was glad when we finally came in the house.
    On Monday, we found footprints in the snow that leads from our driveway to the alley behind our house. It seems the person used the alley to walk up to our house into the driveway. Then, they went back down the driveway into the alley again. And from where the footprints go, it seems they might have went to some other peoples houses as well. 
    We don't know what was going on, but there have been some break ins on my road in the last few years. So, we are being careful and told our neighbors what happened so they can watch out for anyone lurking around peoples houses.
    But besides that, the weekend was fine. Marc and I had fun playing video games together. And the reason I didn't post anything yesterday is because my internet connection has been messing up.

  • Groundhog's Day

    I don't know whether the groundhog saw his shadow or not. And if you want me to be honest, it doesn't matter to me.

    This is what matters. The groundhog. He is cute and I want to hold him. If I was there, the groundhog might have went missing lol
    I'm also wondering, is Groundhog's Day a Pennsylvania thing, or is it something all states do? Do you have Groundhog's Day celebration where you live?

  • Nintendo Bed sheets

    This is not a picture of my bed. I actually found this picture the other day and thought it looked cool. I'd love to have a Nintendo bed sheet set.
    I might have to see if I can buy something like this for my bed.
    Currently, I have a rainbow leopard sheet on my bed. What bed sheets are you using currently?

  • Hawk

    Well, I'm back from my posting break and I have a few neat pictures to share with you all.

    The past few weeks me, my mom and boyfriend have seen a Hawk flying around. Now it's actually started hanging out around our house. It sits on the wires near our house, sometimes the ones above our drive way. It also sits on the fences posts across the road and watches. And the hawk landed on our roof the other day.
    On Tuesday we were leaving to deliver newspapers and the Hawk was out there. I came inside to get my camera and took a few pictures. I'm going to share with you all the few pictures I got on Tuesday.

    If I see the Hawk outside again, I'll try to get a few more pictures. The Hawk actually stayed on the fence post for a long time while I was trying to get a good picture. Once I got the second picture, it flew to the wires again. I just think it's neat that it is hanging around the house.

  • Book Recommendations: Ella Enchanted

    When Ella was born, a fairy named Lucinda, gave her the gift of obedience. Of course, when Ella gets older, she realizes that it isn't a gift at all. She has to do whatever anyone tells her, whether she wants to or not.
    But when her mother dies, her father remarries and she has to deal with her step family. Ella just has to find a way to break her curse.
    This is one time where I've seen the movie before reading the book. I really like the movie, it is good in its own way and it has one of my favorite actresses in it. But after the reading the book, I can't tell begin to tell you how much I love the book.
    I love Ella, I love Char and I love Areida even though she isn't in the book for long. The story is just amazingly good, the characters are wonderful and I just didn't want it to end. Ella Enchanted definitely enchanted me. It was wonderful.
