  • Quick Post

I just wanted to write a quick. I don't have much time. I have to get some sleep and then I have to get up and get ready for the yard sale. It starts at 7am, but I have to be up before that to get everything out and ready.

I'm finishing some stuff up right now, pricing some items and making another pair of earrings to sell. This time, it was feather earrings. I'm going to price some Dreamcatchers to sell as well.
I'll try to post again tomorrow, but if I'm too tired, then I probably won't have a post up again until Monday. I will be on to read everyone's posts later though.
I hope you all have a nice weekend.

  • White And Maroon Dreamcatcher Earrings

I finished the earrings I was making and thought I'd post a picture to share with you all.

They were made with soft white leather lace, black thread for the webbing, maroon feathers and black beads.
I made this pair and I am going to have them out at the yard sale. Besides selling items I don't want anymore, I am going to put some of my crafts out for sale.
So, these earrings aren't for sale on my website. If they don't sell this Saturday, I will then put them on my website for sale.
I do have a pair of Dreamcatcher earrings for sale, so far, on my website. And a jewelry set, which has a necklace and earrings. I will try to soon make more Dreamcatcher earrings and add to my store.

  • Mount Joy Library Book Sale

I went to Mount Joy library's book sale on April 26. I was taking a break from posting, which is why I haven't posted this until now. I believe I got more books there last year, but I still got some ones this year. One I was very surprised and happy to find.
The Ghost's Grave by Peg Kehret - This is actually a book I've been wanting to borrow from the library and read. Now I can read it whenever. Peg Kehret is an author I found through the library. I've read a few of her books so far and she is a good writer.
Sky Rider by Nancy Springer - I've read this book twice. Once about 10 years ago and again, last year. It is a good book so I bought it.
The Fairy's Mistake by Gail Carson Levine - This is another book I've read. I bought it because it is one I've wanted to own and I just Gail Carson Levine's books.
Sonic: The Archives Volume 1 - I just like Sonic.
Hex by Arthur H. Lewis - I read this book in 2009. I borrowed it from my local library. It is non-fiction and is about the murder of Nelson Rehmeyer, which happened in the late 1920s. The book is very good. It is also out of print and rare, which is why I borrowed it from the library. I've wanted to own a copy ever since and surprisingly, I found a copy at the book sale. It definitely made me happy.
Don't Look Behind You by Lois Duncan - It's one of her books I didn't own yet.
Whisper in the Dark by Joseph Bruchac - I've read this one already, but wanted to own it. Joseph Bruchac is one of my favorite authors and I'm trying to get all of his books.
Real Vampires by Daniel Cohen - I bought this because of the author. I've read a number of his books, which are usually about true ghost stories. Cohen himself is a skeptic, but with his paranormal books, it gives the facts of the story and doesn't tell you why it can't possibly be true or real. He may be a skeptic, but he leaves it up to the readers to decide what to believe. And that is why I like his books.
The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine - Once again, I got this because I like her books.
Ghosthunters and the Invincible Lightning Ghost! by Cornelia Funke - I love this series. I own almost the whole series now.
Count Karlstein by Philip Pullman - I read this book last year and it was very good. I'm happy to own a copy now.
The Celery Stalks at Midnight by James Howe - I actually owned a copy of this already, but couldn't find it so I bought another.
Horror at the Haunted House by Peg Kehret - This is one of the few books I've read by this author and enjoyed. Now I have my own copy of it.
Deep And Dark And Dangerous by Mary Downing Hahn - This author writes good paranormal books.
Those are all the books I bought at the book sale. I did buy two DVDs also, Witches of Eastwick and About A Boy. On Monday, I'm going to another book sale. This time at the Middletown library. I'm looking forward to it :)

  • Christmas Cactus

This is a picture I took a while ago and have been meaning to post it, but I keep forgetting to. It is one of my Christmas Cactus, as you can see, it was blooming at the time. It looks so nice with flowers on it, which is why I took the picture.
Hope you all like the picture as well.

  • A New Week

It's Monday already. The weekend just seemed to go so fast. The weekend was kind of busy for me. Went out to eat both Saturday and Sunday. I also went to Wal-mart, K-mart and Big Lots over the weekend.

When I was home, I was cleaning and going through stuff. Finding things I don't want anymore so I can sell them. One of my neighbor's is having a yard sale in two weeks and asked if we had anything we wanted to sell. So I started going through things right away to find stuff to sell. I still have some more to go through yet. I plan on selling some of my Dreamcatchers at the yard sale too.
And when I had time to relax over the weekend, I was reading. I've read 92 books so far this year.
I want to make some more crafts this week. I need to finish a pair of earrings I started making. I'll post a picture of them when I've finished them.
    How was everyone's weekend?

  • Need Questions

I'm sure most of you know I run the blog called The Weekly Question. I started it since Xanga no longer does featured questions.

Well, pretty soon I will be running out of questions to post on Mondays. I would appreciate if you all could submit some questions to that blog. Click here to submit your questions.
Tomorrow I will have a new question up on The Weekly Question.

  • Tired

I don't really know what to blog about as I'm feeling tired. Not long ago, I finished some cleaning I was doing and going through stuff as well. I'm going through stuff and seeing what I don't want anymore so I can get rid of it.

I vacuumed and threw away some stuff that wasn't need anymore.
I was also going through my books (have a big box of them because I don't have enough bookshelves for all of my books) because I was looking for a book I want to read and haven't found it yet. It's around here somewhere, but I'm done looking for now. I'll look again for it later.
Don't have any plans for this weekend. My boyfriend works today and Sunday.
Next Friday is Mount Joy library's book sale and I'm looking forward to that.
Right now I'm just relaxing and watching Falling Skies before I decide to go to bed.
Hope you all have a nice weekend. Hopefully I'll have a more interesting post for tomorrow.

  • Have Libraries Had Their Day?

I dearly love the library. I go to my local library at least two times a week. I go to the Hershey library over the summer for their reading program. But I've also been to the Mount Joy library to borrow books and go see an author. I've been to the Middletown library for a ghost tour they do since the place is haunted and their annual book sale. And I go to every library book sale I know about. I get books I want and it helps support the libraries.

I got my first library card when I was 13, I believe. There are three books I remember borrowing after getting my first library card: After The First Death by Robert Cormier, Incident at Loring Groves by Sonia Levitin and The Boy on the Cover by Phoebe Matthews. All three books I enjoyed, Incident at Loring Groves becoming a favorite and not too long after borrowing those books, I bought a book called Tenderness by Robert Cormier.
And of course, over the many years that I've used the library, I have discovered many authors that have become favorites. For example, Diana Wynne Jones. I borrowed Howl's Moving Castle from Hershey library in May of 2009 and a month later, I went to Borders to buy my own copy and another books of hers. Through the library I have also discovered Lois Duncan, Joan Lowery Nixon, Betty Ren Wright and many others. I also own books by them now.
So I couldn't imagine my life without the library.
However, a few months ago I read an article about author Terry Deary. He is the author of Horrible Histories books. I have heard his books are good and thought at some point that I would read a few. But Mr. Deary believes that libraries have had their day. He thinks they have been around too long and are no longer relevant.
He said that he is not attacking libraries, but rather, the concept behind libraries. He said that because it's been 150 years (the UK first got free public libraries in 1850) and people think they are entitled to free books at the expense of authors, publishers and tax payers. To read the rest of the article click here.
I don't know much about Terry Deary and I haven't read any of his books. But I do know many authors in the UK have been trying to save their libraries there. Philip Pullman is one of the authors helping to save the libraries in the UK.
But it has been similar here in Pennsylvania. Some libraries have lost funding, some have even closed. My local library has lost quite a bit of funding, but they seem to be doing okay, thanks to the library patrons going to their coffee shop, book sales, renting new DVDs and many other things they do to raise money. Middletown lost funding from their borough because the borough thinks the library should be self-sufficient.
As a reader and a writer, I love the library. It's been a place for me to go and spend the day, a place for me to find many wonder books and authors, a place for me to go to events and even meet authors. I truly think libraries are important and as someone who is writing a book trilogy, I know when they are published, I would love for my books to go into libraries. Would people be reading my books for free? Of course, but it would also be a way for people to discover my books. I could get fans and sales that way. I know I've bought many books from authors I originally discovered from borrowing their books at the library.
To me, libraries are amazing places, places of discovery and knowledge. If libraries were to disappear, I do not think it would be a good thing. I hope that there will always be libraries around.
What is your opinion of what Terry Deary said? Have libraries had their day? Is it time for them to go?
